Sometimes, with every game a company is launching, the information distributed by the staff, or made by content creators, might be overwhelming for anyone who is trying to stay informed on a wider range of games. And if you play on more than one platform, you are, for sure, uninformed all the time, and your purchases are actions based on marketing (+ friends) guidance.
It is also the case of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint. The game was prelaunched in the same time with a lot of other big announcements (also Sony had some big announcements too) only on PlayStation 4, in different ways on different youtube, twitter or facebook accounts, and blogs owned by Ubisoft all around the world. It was quite impresive in a coordinated-chaos kind of communication campaign management.
Feeding my curiosity with more and more information about Ghost Recon, a movie called The History of Ghost Recon took my attention and made me save it also (the source is North America youtube Ubisoft account). The movie has less than 2 minutes and presents the history of Ghost Recon starting far back when Counter Strike 1.5 was heating the online multiplayer, and we used IRC on Undernet servers as they are calling today social network.
The sad part is that if you became a Ghost Recon fan after PlayStation 4 joined your life, as me for example, you will be unable to play any of the previous Ghost Recon games. I have checked the Store, and there is some digital content but only for PlayStation 3. Well, in other life I will buy tommorow a PlayStation 3 unit, those 2 Ghost Recon games available and also Need For Speed Hot Porsuit, and I will not leave the house for 2 months! 🙂
Meanwhile, here is the video of the Ghost Recon history. Mine starts with Wildlands, and only the future will tell when will end! If will end. 🙂
